In the evening match of the MPL, Silverton Tigers delivered a strong all-round performance to defeat MG Stars by 39 runs. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the Tigers set a challenging total of 172 runs. In reply, MG Stars fell short, getting bowled out for 133 runs in 19.4 overs. The key to Silverton’s victory was a fine knock by Yash Garg and a disciplined bowling effort led by Yash Garg again with the ball, showing his all-round skills.
Silverton Tigers Innings:
Silverton Tigers got off to a decent start with Gaurav Tomar playing a quick-fire innings of 28 runs off 18 balls, smashing 5 boundaries. After the early dismissal of Aditya Sharma (7), Harshit Rathi stepped in and added 24 runs from just 14 balls, keeping the run rate high.
Then came the power-packed performance from Ashwani Panwar (21 off 11) and Yash Garg, who played the innings beautifully. Yash Garg remained unbeaten with 47 runs off 37 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six. He held the innings together while wickets fell at the other end.
Contributions from Naman Tarar (15), Prashant Surya (7), and a few late runs pushed the total to a solid 172 runs in 20 overs, at an impressive run rate of 8.6 per over.
MG Stars Innings:
Chasing 173, MG Stars had a tough start. Ashmit Baliyan and Jitendra Malik were both dismissed without scoring, and Kumar Gaurav made 18 runs before being caught trying to accelerate.
Mohd Areeb was the most impressive for MG Stars, scoring 25 off 18 balls, while Manish Yadav contributed a steady 28 off 26. But regular wickets made it difficult for them to build any momentum.
Yash Garg shone with the ball too, picking up 2 wickets and contributing in the field with a run-out. Gaurav Tomar and Ashwani Panwar also picked up key wickets, keeping the pressure on MG Stars throughout the innings.
Despite a late push from Ajay Kashyap (11) and Prince Panwar (12), MG Stars were bowled out for 133 runs in 19.4 overs, falling short by 39 runs.
